Page 8 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • February 27, 2013 Waldwick Waldwick Chamber of Commerce 5K Run organizers have set a goal of 1,000 participants for their sixth event, which is scheduled for Sunday, April 28 at the Waldwick High School track. “So far, participation for the Sixth Annual 5K Run/1 Mile Walk has been fantastic. We are so excited to have a goal this year of 1,000 participants. All proceeds go to local town organizations and charities,” said Waldwick Chamber of Commerce President Christine Figliuolo. “Early response has been very positive,” reported Race Director Stan Kowalski. According to Kowalski, 45 runners and walkers have already pre-registered. What is even more encouraging at this early stage is that 12 businesses have committed to sponsoring the event – “and it’s only February!” said Kowalski. A total of 621 runners and walkers crossed the finish line last year. The event is USTF-NJ certified and holds Grand Prix status. “There is nothing much that compares to our race,” said Kowalksi. “It’s a great, Chamber gears up for Sixth Annual 5K Run varied, interesting course, and we have massage tables and great goody bags.” The scenic, challenging route goes through the park near White’s Pond and through borough streets. Massage Envy Spa has again signed on to be the Presenting Sponsor. “We are thrilled to have Massage Envy Spa of Waldwick as our presenting sponsor for the third year in a row. Sol Glastein and his wonderful staff at Massage Envy Spa have been extremely supportive,” Figliuolo added. Plaza Jewelers has once again donated two sport dress watches for the male/female winners from Waldwick. Brackets have been expanded in five-year age increments, and the first, second, and third place winners in each bracket will receive a medal and a New Balance North Jersey gift certificate for $50, $25, and $10, respectively.
