The Allendale Board of Education has approved funding for a number of conference trips to enhance the education of the school’s staff members and contribute to the district’s efficiency in administration and instruction. Sandra Peterson received approval for $225 for a trip to the Holiday Inn in Parsippany to discuss practical therapy techniques for persistent articulation errors. Jerry Goodman and Barbara Hernandez received a subsidy of $75 for trips to the Bergen County Academic of Public Safety in Mahwah for a schools safety seminar, “Lessons from Columbine and Virginia Tech: How Kids Are Learning to Kill and Like It.” Marilyn Cusumano received a subsidy of $199 to attend a conference on “Children Who Struggle to Speak: The Kaufman Approach Workshop” at the Marriott in Saddle Brook. Diane Aronsky received a subsidy for $170 for a New Jersey International Dyslexia Association Conference at The Westwood in Garfield. Valerie Gancarz received a subsidy of $120 for a conference on “Autism, NJ Workshop: Ethics and Business Practices for Behavior Analysis” at the Sheraton Edison in Edison. The board also approved a trip to QUAD T-Eval Training for senior school administrations at Northern Highlands Regional High School at no cost. The attendees will be Superintendent Dr. Michael Barcadepone, Brookside Principal Bruce Winkelstein, Hillside Principal Anastasia Maroulis, and curriculum supervisor JoAnn Karamus. Dr. Barcadepone will also attend a superintendent’s conference at La Jolla, California, at no cost to the district. J. KOSTER
