Page 14 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • April 24, 2013 Dear Readers: During my upcoming year as the Waldwick Chamber of Commerce’s president, I will continue the initiatives that have been put into place, such as monthly meetings, multi-chamber events, ribbon cutting ceremonies, membership drives, Community Movie Night, and the Annual 5K Run/1 Mile Walk. This year’s 5K will be held Sunday, April 28 at Waldwick High School’s turf field. With your help, I would like to continue to promote awareness about our local Chamber of Commerce and its purpose. You would be surprised to know how many people do not even know that we are a “Multi-Chamber,” which means other towns are members of the Waldwick Chamber of Commerce. We decided to open our doors and bridge the gap a couple of years ago in order for us to grow. We are now a 115 members strong -- and still growing. I encourage you to share your feedback. How we can improve? What can we do differently? Please feel free to contact me or the Chamber office (www.waldwickchamber.com). We are here to serve the Chamber and its members. Our mission states that the Chamber’s primary responsibilities are to serve as an advocate to provide business development and communicate the views of the business community. We also give back monetarily in many ways. Our 5K Run is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year. Proceeds from this year’s event will help support The Sean Fisher Foundation, Hope with Heart, The Butterflies Program at Valley Hospital, college scholarships, holiday decorations, and local town organizations. So please share your ideas, make recommendations, and know that the Chamber is here to support and promote your business. Whether it is by helping you “advertise your business,” host or attend a networking event, or get community exposure, we are here to help. Once again, I am very proud of our Chamber and its members. You all are truly the backbone of our community, always willing to put your money and your manhours where your mouth is and do what is needed to help your community. You understand the importance of being an integral part of your community. I look forward to working with the newlyappointed board in 2013 on a successful year of productive accomplishments. Christine Figliuolo, President Waldwick Chamber of Commerce
