The Waldwick Soccer Association will be providing the labor to install a new roof on the comfort station at Borough Park. The town will purchase the materials. The borough had planned to refurbish the decaying

building this year with funds from its Municipal Open Space Trust fund, so the volunteer offer is most welcome, said Borough Administrator Gary Kratz. The association uses the back half of the building for equipment storage.
Keeping the troops in mind
For the third consecutive year, Brownie Troop 669 in Waldwick collected approximately 90 boxes of cookies, candy and toiletries, to be distributed to military troops in Afghanistan’ including TJ Giordano, son of Mayor and Mrs. Thomas Giordano. Kratz said once the roof job is completed, the town will change the windows and the door and then paint building or possibly side it. Exterior work will be done now, with interior renovations completed once the outdoor activity season is over. “The station will be in various stages of construction until the end of the year, but it will be usable throughout,” Kratz said. About $39,000 is budgeted for the entire project, he said. The administrator said that while fixtures could be upgraded, there is no way to change the layout of the facility and still maintain compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
