Water department warns of discoloration The Borough of Waldwick advises residents that the water department will be flushing fire hydrants in voting district 1 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays through April 26. This flushing will cause brown water on and off throughout the day. This discolored water results from sediment in the pipes, and is not harmful. The remedy is to let the water run for a short time to clear up. The water department recommends not doing any laundry during these hours because the water could discolor the items being washed. For more information, call the water department during regular business hours at (201) 652-5300, extension 240. Districts not flushed this spring will be done in the fall. The water department is continuing its program to change all water meters from remote and manual to radio meters. Residents whose meters have not been updated are encouraged to call the department at (201) 652-5300, extension 240 for an appointment.
