Over the past 23 years, Chamber members have worked hard to create an inviting downtown area while giving back to our community. For example, our members volunteer about 100 hours to install and remove garland and red ribbons to make the holidays in HoHo-Kus festive. We support local sports teams, Boy/ Girl Scouts, and fundraisers. Now, we are pleased to announce our first $500 scholarship for high school seniors. Candidates must be graduating this June from any area high school and applications may be picked up at OBH Car Wash at 208 East Franklin Turnpike and Ho-Ho-Kus Flowers & Gifts at 9 Sheridan Avenue. Applications must be postmarked by May 24, 2013. In addition to our scholarship, the Chamber is committed to doing its part to help beautify the borough. This spring, we will be sprucing up the corner of Maple Avenue and Franklin Turnpike (next to Memorial Park) and hope to have other areas of town improved as well. Our goal is to have the corner complete in time for our Second Annual Taste of Ho-Ho-Kus. Keep your eyes open for date and time. After last year’s sell-out success, this year there will be a strict number of tickets sold, so you will want to get yours early and not be shut out. Once again, thank you for supporting us! We look forward seeing you! The Ho-Ho-Kus Chamber of Commerce A Message from the Ho-Ho-Kus Chamber of Commerce: Thank you for supporting your local merchants! T Villadom TIMES Sales Representative Michele Bonacorte ast month, Villadom TIMES welcomed Michele Bonacorte, the newspaper’s newest sales representative. Michele’s extensive territory includes Allendale, Ho-Ho-Kus, Saddle River, Upper Saddle River, and Waldwick. Although Michele is new on the job, she understands hometown businesses. She explains, “My mother owned a boutique in Hasbrouck Heights for 20 years, so I’ve experienced the owneroperated lifestyle.” She added, “I shop locally anyway, but now I get to meet even more people in my neighborhood. I see myself as a liaison between the business community and the newspaper.” Michele is a graduate of Montclair State University, where she received a BA in fine art; which fostered her portrait photography business. She later received an MA in communications from Montclair. She and her husband, Charles Fritsch, have two sons and reside in Waldwick. The family previously lived in Allendale. Michele describes herself as a civic-minded person who believes “it takes a village.” At her son’s school (Crescent School in Waldwick), she runs the Pumpkin Fair Michele Bonacorte and the Plant Sale. Commenting on her experience at Villadom TIMES over the past month, Michele says she appreciates the warm atmosphere within the office. “I like the fact that this is the last independently owned newspaper in our area,” she adds. “It’s about as hometown as you can get – and it works. This paper has heart!” To contact Michele, call (201) 652-0744 or e-mail Michele@villadom.com. L
