The Waldwick Council last week adopted a new salary schedule for all nonunion employees retroactive to Jan. 1. In keeping with the state-imposed cap, salaries will go up by 2 percent across the board, according to Councilman Don Sciolaro, the finance committee chairman. “These are in line with what we agreed to with our collective bargaining units,” Sciolaro said. The borough is now in the third and final year of its contract with the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association (PBA) and DPW unions, whose employees also received 2 percent raises, in addition to paying for part of their health benefits. “We have good workers. They do such a great job and have such a positive attitude. They are a good customer-friendly staff,” Sciolaro said. Top administrator salaries include $151,341 for the borough administrator, $143,700 for the police chief, $135,463 for the CFO/water department supervisor, $110,182 for the DPW manager, $93,091 for

the construction official and $82,039 for the municipal clerk. Other salaries range from $53,584 for the grants administrator to $28,905 for the tax assessor. Clerk salaries in various department range from $46,833 to $30,792, with some part time clerks working on an hourly basis at $14 to $19 per hour. Police dispatcher salaries range from $57,438 to $27,500. Salaries for recycling workers range from $27,500 to $30,308. The annual stipend for the fire chief is $2,397. The stipends for the other fire officials range from $721 to $241, depending on rank. The fire prevention official’s salary is $5,814, with inspector salaries ranging from $3,597 to $1,400. Code official salaries range from $12,634 to $10,519. One traffic guard position is salaried at $9,160; the others are paid at $21.42 per hour. The council has introduced its municipal budget for 2013, with adoption expected after a public hearing on Tuesday, April 9.
