Pasta Dinner & Cabaret Night set The Waldwick Music Parents Association will host its Tenth Annual Pasta Dinner and Cabaret Night fundraiser on Friday, April 26. The event will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Waldwick High School cafeteria at 155 Wyckoff Avenue. Entertainment will be provided by student musical groups, including the Waldwick High School and Middle School Jazz Band. Tickets purchased by April 24 cost $12 for adults and $10 for seniors and students age five and up. Tickets sold at the door will be $14 for adults and $12 for seniors and students. Admission is free for children under age five. Advance ticket orders may be left in the WMPA box in the high school/middle school office, or mailed to WMPA, 11 Dow Avenue, Waldwick, NJ 07463. Proceeds will benefit the performing arts programs at the Waldwick Middle & High schools and the WMPA scholarship fund. Auxiliary plans meeting The Waldwick Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary will meet on Wednesday, April 3. The noon meeting will be held at the Waldwick Methodist Church at 25 Franklin Turnpike. The cost to attend is $5 and includes pizza and cannoli. Attendees should bring their own beverages. Library hosts programs for adults The Waldwick Public Library will present three programs for adults in April. Registration is required and may be completed by calling the library at (201) 652-5104. On April 23, a representative from Walgreen’s Pharmacy will present “Unraveling the Mystery of Medicare.” The program will begin at 11 a.m. and is open to everyone interested in learning the about the Medicare system. Participants are encouraged to ask questions and will leave with informative handouts for reference. Armchair travelers and hiking enthusiasts are invited to the library on Thursday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. when Eric Nelsen of the Palisades Interstate Park Commission will bring the history of the Palisades to life. Nelsen’s presentation will include a slideshow of bathing beaches and other facilities that ran at full-tilt during the earlier part of the 20th century. On April 20 at 2 p.m., learn about the Titanic survivors and their stories. The Traveling Literary Theater will present amazing, heartfelt accounts of those who survived this maritime disaster. Experience the intimate and harrowing details of the Titanic’s ill-fated voyage through this fullystaged and costumed event.

Ambulance corps seeks volunteers The Waldwick Volunteer Ambulance Corps is seeking new members for its ranks. The corps provides emergency medical services to Waldwick residents and businesses and the surrounding communities. Residents may apply to the corps at age 16. The 120-hour emergency medical training course, provided to the volunteer at no cost, qualifies for three college credits. Chamber plans 5K Run/1 Mile Walk The Sixth Annual Waldwick Chamber of Commerce 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk will be held on Sunday, April 28 at the Waldwick High School track. This is a Grand Prix sanctioned event with a fast scenic course, a track finish, and many prizes and awards. Participants of all ages are welcome. Commemorative T-shirts and the “best goody bags in New Jersey” will be given to the first 450 registered participants. For the third year, Massage Envy Spa of Waldwick will be the presenting sponsor. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Sean Fisher Foundation, Hope with Heart, Valley Hospital Butterflies, and school and volunteer organizations throughout the community. ‘Two Figures’ by Leslee Fetner
Leslee Fetner will exhibit her artwork at the Waldwick Library during April. Fetner spent a year at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and earned a degree in art at Hunter College. She subsequently worked in drawing and sculpture on and off for many years until the early 1990s, when she was introduced to the medium of watercolor. She currently works in watercolors and creates monotypes, a printmaking process using watercolor and other water-based media. Fetner’s work has been accepted into several juried shows and has received several prizes, including Best in Show in the Pascack Art Association Members Show in October and second place in the professional printmaking category at the 2012 Bergen County New Jersey Senior Show. The library is located at 19 East Prospect Street. Disco Tech Ball fundraiser set Crescent School will host a Disco Tech Ball fundraiser at Portobello Banquets in Oakland on April 4. The event will feature dinner, dancing, prize baskets, and an auction. Tickets are $75.
