ents and staff members and selected by a committee representing each group. The board and the HSAs each provide the teachers with stipends to fund instructional initiatives of their choice.
The following teachers have been selected as recipients of the 2013 Ridgewood Teacher Recognition Awards: Education Services Professional Lorraine Zak, Ridge/Willard; Hawes School, David Jenkins; Orchard School, Sawyer Austin; Ridge School, Lynne Peabody; Somerville School, Susan Foreman; Travell School, Darien Dastis Buckler; Willard School, Linda Diorio; Benjamin Franklin Middle School, Erin Corcoran; George Washington Middle School, Lauren Sacks; and Ridgewood High School, Michael Yannone. Each honoree will receive a total stipend of $500, which includes $250 from the individual HSA and $250 from the school board. Last week, the teachers received their recognition awards at the Education Center at a reception entitled “A Celebration of Teaching.” The event acknowledged the contributions of all the past recipients and celebrates the profession of teaching.
