Board of education sets opening day, hires staff
by John Koster The Ridgewood Board of Education has decided that the next academic year will begin on Sept. 9. The board also hired some new staff members. Michael Parigi has been hired as an energy specialist effective June 1 and through the 2014 school year at a salary of $75,000 a year, pro-rated at the amount of service. Lisa Blumenfeld was hired as the school nurse teacher at Orchard School at a salary of $72,423 in the class 3, stage 8 level. She holds standard state certifications as a school nurse and as a teacher of health education. Moira Correll has been hired as a school nurse teacher for the Somerville School at a salary of $73,843 for class 1, stage 13, effective Sept. 1. She anticipates receiving her school nurse certificate this month. Donna Merhige-Petrick has been hired as a research room teacher at Somerville School at a salary of $62,423 at class 1-2, stage 2. Lia Relyea has been hired as a temporary leave of absence replacement special education teacher at Willard School starting in September at a salary of $55,423 at class 1, stage 1. Lauren Rudman has been hired as a temporary leave of
absence replacement fourth grade teacher at Willard School starting in September through January 2014 at a salary of class 1, step 1, pro-rated. Whitney White has been hired as a temporary leave of absence replacement first grade teacher at Travell School, effective Sept. 1 through Dec. 13 of 2013 at a salary of $55,423, class 1, step 1, pro-rated based on the amount of service. Tomohiro Kubo has been hired as a technology associate at Willard School for a seven-hour day and five-day week at $19.04 an hour starting immediately and extending through June 26.
