Each day, store owners in the central business district will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. with special offers and fabulous discounts on merchandise. Shoppers are welcome to stroll by the many stores in and around the Village of Ridgewood’s historic district. From small mom-and-pop boutique stores to well-known, national establishments, Ridgewood’s commercial district has the “We care about you” feel. This diverse downtown area offers high quality merchandise and services. Ridgewood is also home to over 30 restaurants and specialty food establishments. Italian, Chinese, Mediterranean, and French are among the many fine cuisines offered. Weather permitting, several restaurants offer al fresco dining in the warmer months. Sidewalk Sale Days will also include activities for families with young children. Treat the kids to a day of hands-on adventure, featuring opportunities to climb on board the vehicles that touch their lives, when “Touch-a-Truck” rolls into downtown Ridgewood’s Memorial Park at Van Neste Square on Thursday, May 16. Admission is free. (Rain date: May 17.) Ridgewood emergency and public works vehicles will be ready for action along the Oak Street side of the park from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. As a bonus, there will be a Safetytown Kiddie Car Driving Track hosted by the Ridgewood Police Department and Little Ivy Learning Center. Ridgewood Chamber hosts Sidewalk Sale Days The Ridgewood Public Library will host a special Truck Storytime and there will be many other interactive activities for children of all ages. Touch-a-Truck is coordinated by Ridgewood’s Little Ivy Learning Center and co-sponsored by the Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce and the Village of Ridgewood. The Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce, a voluntary organization of individuals, businesses, professionals and organizations, is dedicated to advancing the commercial, professional, civic, and general interests of the community. Recently, the Chamber launched a new sub-chapter, the Ridgewood Young Professionals Exchange, which is open “Mary Todd Lincoln” will speak at Ridgewood Village Hall from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on May 14. This costumed professional impersonation will be presented by Pat Jordan. The performance is free and is sponsored by the Bergen County Division of Disability Services and the Ridgewood Post Stroke & Disabled Adult Support Group. The talk will take place in the courthouse on the fourth floor of Ridgewood Village Hall with access by elevator ‘Mary Todd Lincoln’ to appear to business professionals who are age 40 and under.
