Page 18 THE VILLADOM TIMES Glen Rock II • May 8, 2013 Local academic teams excel in competition Academy of Our Lady recently competed in the 27th Annual Queen of Peace High School Academic Games. Queen of Peace, located in North Arlington, awarded both seventh grade teams with first place trophies for winning their divisions. In addition, the Blue Team (pictured at left with Moderator Carol Knapp) became the overall winners in the 20-team competition. Academy students participated in a Jeopardy-style contest by excelling in questions on math, science, geography, history, literature, current events, and pop culture. The Glen Rock Police Department has announced that the locations of crossing guard posts at several road crossings will be changing effective May 13. Students headed to or from school should comply with the new crossing guard posts. The Maple Avenue and Waldron Avenue crossing guard post has been discontinued. Students should now walk to the crossing guard post at Maple Avenue and Rodney Street before crossing. The Ackerman Avenue and Harding Road crossing will also be discontinued. A new post at Rock Road and Berkely Place will be added, with a crossing guard on duty from 7:15 a.m. until 8:45 a.m. Rock Road at Main Street in the Central Business District will be guarded from 11:30 a.m. until 12:20 p.m. Rock Road and Hamilton Avenue will be added from 3 p.m. until 3:50 p.m. The changes followed a needs assessment study.
