March 27, 2013 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 7 Ridgewood Planning board weighing hospital, housing by John Koster The Ridgewood Planning Board will hold another meeting on May 7 to discuss priorities for the hearings on the revised Valley Hospital plan and the proposals for four separate multi-family units near the railroad or in downtown Ridgewood. The preliminary discussion last week led to a planning board decision to discuss the matter further, while continuing the scheduled hearings about the revised Valley Hospital plan. The schedule to hear the revised hospital plan has not been altered, but the decision on whether to hear the hospital plans and the four distinct housing plans simultaneously, or to put the four multi-unit plans on the back burner, have not yet been made, and no formal hearings on the applications have been scheduled. A separate commitment is also studying the concept of closing Ridgewood’s fleet garage on Chestnut Street and either outsourcing or relocating the fleet garage to either a Route 17 site or the land Ridgewood owns at the sewage treatment site within the borders of Glen Rock. That case is also under way, but no official proposals have been made. The four multi-unit proposals to be heard at dates not yet chosen include: Ridgewood Station, a 114-unit proposal by DiNallo Construction Corp. would be located near the railroad station. The building would replace the Ken Smith Ford dealership and would include 7,250 square feet of retail space around Chestnut Street. The building would rise four stories beside the rail line with a cupola over the entrance. The Enclave, a 52-unit proposal for 257 Ridgewood Avenue near Maple Avenue, East Ridgewood Avenue, and Franklin Avenue has been presented by 257 Ridgewood Avenue, LLC. Chestnut Village, is a 52-unit plan for Chestnut Street by Two Forty Association. This proposal includes several townhouses and a mix of one-bedroom and two bedroom apartments. The site would be located near medical offices and the Ridgewood YMCA-YWCA, some distance from the downtown shopping area.
