The event will be held at the Brownstone in Paterson. The club’s members are retired and semi-retired men who are involved in social, athletic, educational, and scientific activities. The group meets at the Community Church at 354 Rock Road in Glen Rock at 1:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month. Library to host Paul/Mary Ford Tribute The Glen Rock Public Library, located at 315 Rock Road in Glen Rock, will host a Paul/Mary Ford Tribute with Tom Doyle and Sandy Cory at 3 p.m. on March 24. This concert is suitable for music lovers of all ages. Those who drive to this event are asked to use the borough parking lot. This program was made possible by the Friends of the Library. Good Shepherd celebrates Holy Week Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will celebrate Palm/ Passion Sunday on March 24 at 10:30 a.m. Members of the community are welcome. The service will begin with the distribution of palms and the outdoor blessing and Procession of the Palms. The procession recalls Jesus’ arrival in Jerusalem, when he began his walk to the cross. During the worship service, there will be a dramatic reading of the passion according to Saint Luke. At the conclusion of the service, worshippers will recess in a somber reflection of Holy Week. Communion will be celebrated. A Maundy Thursday Service of Holy Communion will be held Thursday, March 28 at 8 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Members of the community are welcome. With the Maundy Thursday prayer of Thanksgiving, Jesus instituted the Lord’s Supper, when he ate his final meal with his disciples. Jesus also gave his disciples the command “to love one another.” As is tradition, the altar will be stripped of adornment in preparation for Good Friday. Church hosts Family Promise Shelter Good Shepherd Lutheran church is hosting the Family Promise Shelter March 17 through 24. A large number of volunteers of all ages from Good Shepherd and four support congregations, Glen Rock Jewish Center, Grace Lutheran Church in River Edge, Our Savior Lutheran Church in Fair Lawn, and Central Unitarian Church in Paramus, transform three Sunday School classrooms and the Youth Lounge into a warm and cozy environment for each family. Thanks to generous donations, the rooms are fitted with lamps, chests of drawers, night tables, towels, drying racks, and hampers. Ethnically and religiously diverse families arrive to a warm welcome from volunteers and a homemade dinner in the church’s Fellowship Hall. After dinner, the volunteers play games and provide entertainment for the children, while the adults have a chance to relax, watch TV, and talk. Good Shepherd will host the Family Promise Shelter again in September. Members of the community are invited to assist with this program. Auxiliary hosts Card Party Luncheon The Glen Rock Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary will hold its Annual Spring Luncheon and Card Party on Monday, March 25 at the municipal annex, 678 Maple Avenue in Glen Rock. The luncheon will begin at noon. Card games will follow. Door prizes will be awarded. This event is open to the public, both men and women. Tickets are $15 and may be ordered by contacting Ruth at (201) 444-1285. Clubs and bridge groups are encouraged to make table reservations. All proceeds will benefit the Valley Hospital’s programs and equipment needs.
