A yearling black bear was captured by New Jersey Fish and Game officers for relocation to a habitat farther from the Orchard Elementary School. The Ridgewood school system kept students indoors at the Orchard School and at George Washington Middle School on June 18 after the bear was spotted, and police maintained a cordon to make sure the bear did not encounter local humans.
