Summer sports camps for children in pre-K through elementary school will run from Aug. 12 through 16 at Maple Park East located at the corner of Meadowbrook Avenue and Northern Parkway. Children ages three through five are invited to join Summer Sport Squirts. Participants are introduced to a variety of sports. Two one-hour sessions are available: 9:15 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. The cost is $100 for each session, and all equipment is provided. Children ages five through 12 will experience many different sports from around the world in the multi sports camp. Instruction and play may include badminton, baseball, basketball, bocce, cricket, net ball, field hockey, flag football, lacrosse, handball, floor hockey, discovery games, Olympic games, parachute, pillo polo, soccer, softball, tennis, touch rugby, and volleyball. A full day, which is open to children six through 12, will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fifteen sports will be included. The cost is $189. A half-day, which will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., is available for children five through 12 and will include 10 Summer to bring multiple mini-camps, programs sports. The cost is $169. Weekly tennis instruction with All Pro Tennis will be offered from July 1 through Aug. 12, Monday through Thursday. (Friday is for rain makeups.) Sessions meet 9 to 10:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Somerville Courts on South Pleasant Avenue. The cost for each session is $115 per person. A 2013 tennis badge is required. Summer Arts & Crafts will be held the week of Aug. 12 through 15 at The Stable. One-hour sessions will be held at 10 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. and include all materials. Drawing will be offered at 12:45 p.m. and materials are additional. The cost is $45 per child. Skateboarding Summer Camp for children ages six through 14 will include 10 lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning July 9 at the Skatepark at 259 North Maple Avenue. The program will meet from 10 a.m. to noon, and emphasize safety while teaching participants about the board, how to ride, and basic tricks. The cost is $125. Participants must bring a board, helmet, and knee pads. Summer Lego Engineering camps with Play Well will be presented in two sessions at the Community Center in Village Hall, 131 North Maple Avenue. Session I will run from Aug. 12 through 16. Session II will be held Aug. 26 through 30. The class will meet from 9 a.m. to noon for children in kindergarten through second grade. Students in grades three through six will attend from 1 to 4 p.m. The cost of $150 includes materials for on-site use only. Teens are invited to join a Vegetarian Cooking Class at the Stable on Wednesday, Aug. 28. Instruction and cooking demonstrations will be provided by natural foods chef and certified holistic health coach Christine M. Okezie. Participants will learn to cook simple and delicious recipes that will help them make healthy vegetarian choices. The class will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and costs $25.
