Retiring Ridgewood Learning Services teacher and administrator Kerry Huntington has become the namesake for a new scholarship for a graduating student. “The scholarship will recognize Kerry’s leadership, integrity, sensitivity, and unwavering commitment to our special children,” the Learning Services Home & School Association said in a recent statement. “It will be awarded each year to a Village of Ridgewood graduating student of good moral character who exhibits those same attitudes of Kerry Huntington while demonstrating an outstanding dedication, support, and understanding of other students’ special needs and challenges.” A graduate of Bucknell University with a bachelor’s degree in education, Huntington also holds a master’s degree from Montclair State University, and holds certificates in elementary school education, learning disabilities teaching, consulting, and supervision. Huntington began her career in Ridgewood teaching in Somerville School in 1973, and taught students in the second, fourth, and sixth grades. She began serving as a learning disabilities teacher-consultant at the Hawes and Travell schools in 1980. She became the coordinator of the district’s Ridgewood Early Development program in 1994,

He was spotted a short time later looking into a closed store. Patrolman Dibenedetto approached the man and asked what he was looking for. During the course of the interaction, the man was reportedly found to be in possession of a crack pipe. The accused was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters, where the name he gave did not match a fingerprint check. He proved to be wanted in another jurisdiction. The 42-year-old Paterson man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and with hindering apprehension. He was remanded to Bergen County Jail after he was unable to post bail. On June 6 at 5:58 p.m., Patrolman Anthony Mormino observed a Toyota Rav 4 drive off the pavement at Citizens Park and drive around on the grassy areas of the park, which caused damage.
