Kilmer exhibit hosted
Patricia Langdale, branch manager of Boiling Springs Savings Bank in Mahwah, and Donna Fogarty, assistant branch manager, admire the Joyce Kilmer Historical Exhibit in the lobby of the Mahwah branch located at 6 East Ramapo Avenue. The exhibit, which will continue through June 29, features Kilmer’s five years in Mahwah, including his writing of the famous poem ‘Trees,’ in his house at the southwest corner of Airmount and Armour roads 100 years ago. Enlarged pictures, sponsored by the Joyce Kilmer Society of Mahwah, show the society’s discovery of Kilmer’s notebook in which he wrote ‘Trees’ and other poems, and a letter by Kilmer’s widow Aline, stating that ‘Trees’ was written in an upstairs room of the Mahwah house in which there was a desk by a window that overlooked a wooded hill.
