Ridgewood June 5, 2013 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 7 Princeton names Medha Kirtane as top educator by John Koster Princeton University has named Ridgewood High School’s Medha Kirtane as one of New Jersey’s four top high school teachers. She will receive $5,000 for herself and another $3,000 for the Ridgewood High School Library. Over the years, Kirtane has received credit from educators and students alike for the rigor of her teaching. “I want my students to engage with themselves, me, and each other to ignite their passions to learn and create ideas anew,” Kirtane wrote. “From that heated passion should emerge a distilled vision of what should be and how each of them can work within and beyond their communities to achieve their goals.” Students credit Kirtane with teaching them with the sort of academic rigor that helped them cope with top colleges, including Princeton. Kirtane has taught advanced history classes and seminars at Ridgewood High School for eight years. She also leads the Ridgewood High School Tennis Team and was named division coach in 2009, 2010, and 2011. In addition, she has served as a faculty adviser to the Ridgewood High Medha Kirtane The Ridgewood Raiders 10U Travel Baseball Team has won the Tenth Annual Bergen County Charity Classic Tournament. The Raiders beat the Park Ridge Owls 11-2 in the championship game played in Woodcliff Lake. This is the second consecutive year the team has won the tournament.
