Glen Rock
Council approves salary ranges for 2013
by John Koster The Glen Rock Borough Council has adopted the salary ordinance listing the ranges for professional, supporting, and part-time employees’ salaries for 2013 and the stipends for part-time employees. The salary range for full-timers includes $85,000 to $155,000 for the chief of police and $80,000 to $145,000 for the police captain. Other police salaries are covered by Policemen’s Benevolent Association contracts. The bottom of the range represents what it would cost to hire a new employee for the position and the top of the range represents the theoretical maximum for anyone with longevity holding that job in 2013. The salary of the borough administrator ranges from $35,000 to $55,000. The present borough administrator also serves as the chief financial officer, a post with a salary range of $40,000 to $94,000. The administrator’s dual role was instituted some years ago because the administrator was also a qualified CFO, and the single appointment saved one benefits and insurance package. The assistant financial officer’s salary is in the range of $40,000 to $61,000. The public works director’s salary ranges from $50,000 to $110,000, and includes management of the department responsible for streets and roads. The public works office secretary’s salary ranges from $30,000 to $55,000. The workers are paid based on union contract negotiations. The construction code official and code enforcement official’s position has a range of $30,000 to $110,000, and the building inspector’s salary ranges from $6,000 to $71,000. The borough clerk’s salary ranges from $40,000 to
$79,000 and the clerk secretary’s salary ranges from $29,000 to $55,000. Other administrative staffers are paid hourly wages that range from $7 to $34, with a range of $20 to $50 for the computer consultant. The tax assessor, a shared position with part-time office responsibilities, is paid $25,000 to $39,000. The collectorcashier is paid $40,000 to $67,000. The range for the recreation director is $8,000 to $54,000, with most other staffers paid on an hourly basis. The municipal judge receives a part-time stipend of $10,000 to $30,000, and the borough attorney receives a stipend of $1,000 to $13,000. The library director’s salary range of $65,000 to $93,000 and the assistant director’s salary range is $50,000 to $69,000. The supervising children’s librarian is paid in the range of $40,000 to $56,000. The mayor’s part-time stipend ranges from $1,000 to $4,100, and each council member receives $1,000 to $3,000.
