On March 19, leaders in education, politics, and the media will convene at The Berrie Center at Ramapo College of New Jersey, 505 Ramapo Valley Road in Mahwah, to celebrate College Club’s centennial year and Woman’s History Month. These leaders will participate in a timely panel discussion on “The Importance of an Advanced Education for Women in Kathleen Donovan Today’s World.” Moderated by Amelia Duggan, editor of (201) magazine, the panel consists of Bergen County Executive Kathleen Donovan; Dr. Joan C. Ficke, dean of the Graduate School, Montclair State University; Dr. Anne Prisco, president, Felician College; and Candace Straight, Rutgers Board of Governors. Panelists and guests will be welcomed by Peter P. Mercer, presiDr. Joan C. Ficke dent of Ramapo College. The panel discussion will take place from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., followed by refreshments. Admission is free. All are welcome. The Centennial Celebration is a partnership between Ramapo College, the College Club, and the panelists, all of whom are dedicated to encouraging the pursuit of a higher education among today’s high school girls. Dr. Anne Prisco College Club is comprised of members from 40 surrounding northern New Jersey communities who are college graduates committed to making possible an advanced education for many young women through a grants-in-aid program and a student loan fund. Founded in 1913 by a group of young college graduates who hoped to fund a woman’s college, the club has provided over Candace Straight $3.5 million in grants and loans to women for their education.
