Grad Ball 2013 Parent Meeting announced Parents of Glen Rock High School seniors are invited to the Grad Ball 2013 meeting set for Thursday, Jan. 17 at 8 p.m. The meeting will be held in rooms B150/151 in the senior hallway of Glen Rock High School, 400 Hamilton Avenue. The agenda includes a recap of the Beefsteak Dinner, a budget review/treasurer’s report, the painting and construction schedule, and committee reports. Seniors host Potluck Luncheon The Glen Rock Senior Citizens Club will hold a Potluck Luncheon on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at the municipal annex on Maple Avenue. The event will begin at 1 p.m. Attendees are asked to bring a favorite dish. Portions should be large enough to feed six to eight people. Those who do not wish to bring a dish may pay $8 to attend. Author to address Activities Club Glen Rock author John Koster will speak at the Jan. 15 meeting of the Glen Rock Activities Club. He will discuss his new book, “Operation Snow: How a Soviet Mole in FDR’s White House Triggered Pearl Harbor.” The book is based on new translations of Japanese, Korean, and Russian documents that describe the full background of the attack on Pearl Harbor from the viewpoints
of the Soviet NKVD (later KGB), the Japanese cabinet, the Korean underground, and from U.S. military reports and federal documents quoted extensively in the text. A resident of Glen Rock for more than 40 years, Koster is also the author of the History Channel two-hour documentary, “Custer Survivor: The End of a Myth, the Beginning of a Legend,” and was a featured commentator on the 2011 History Channel show “Custer’s Last Man: I Survived Little Bighorn,” along with best-selling author James Donovan, author of “A Terrible Glory,” Doulas Ellision, author of “Sole Survivor”’ and Professor Louise Barnett of Rutgers University, author of “Atrocity and American Military Justice in Southeast Asia.” The Activities Club’s members are retired and semiretired men who are involved in social, athletic, educational, scientific, and volunteer activities. Nursery school registration under way Registration at the Glen Rock Jewish Center Nursery School is open for the 2013-14 school year. The state licensed nursery school offers classes for two, three-, and four-year-olds and afternoon Kindergarten Enrichment, Toddler Time (formerly Mommy and Me), an Infant/Toddler Playgroup and Summer Day Camps. All teachers are certified and offer a wide range of age appropriate activities. Professionally taught weekly classes in yoga and music are part of the curriculum for all age groups and three- and four-year-olds go on at least two field trips a year. The school, which offers flexibility in scheduling, is open from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Full- and half-day sessions
