Activities Club will host author
John Koster
Glen Rock author John Koster will speak at the Jan. 15 meeting of the Glen Rock Activities Club. He will discuss his new book, “Operation Snow: How a Soviet Mole in FDR’s White House Triggered Pearl Harbor.” The book is based on new translations of Japanese, Korean, and Russian documents that describe the full background of the attack on Pearl Harbor from the viewpoints of the Soviet NKVD (later KGB), the Japanese cabinet, the Korean underground, and from U.S. military reports and federal documents quoted extensively in the text. A resident of Glen Rock for more than 40 years, Koster is also the author of the History Channel two-hour documentary, “Custer Survivor: The End of a Myth, the Beginning of a Legend,” and was a featured commentator on the 2011 History Channel show “Custer’s Last Man: I Survived Little Bighorn,” along with best-selling author James Donovan, author of “A Terrible Glory,” Doulas Ellision, author of “Sole Survivor”’ and Professor Louise Barnett of Rutgers University, author of “Atrocity and American Military Justice in Southeast Asia.” “Operation Snow” is also being developed into a documentary film at a date to be announced. Negotiations for translation into several languages are in progress.
