Chernowetz exhibits at local library Artist Melissa Chernowetz will be exhibiting her mixed media shadowboxes at the Paramus Public Library through Jan. 31. Chernowetz, who grew up in Mahwah, creates each shadowbox using a paper cut design illuminated by a colorful, handmade LED circuit. Paper cutting is an ancient art that evolved in many different cultures all over the world. LEDs, which were developed in the 20th century, are efficient light sources with a lifetime superior to that of the incandescent bulb. Together, they create a harmonious effect, with the LED lights lending depth. Each shadowbox features whimsical scenes and characters from folklore and pop culture. The Paramus Public Library is located at E116 Century Road in Paramus. For details, call (201) 599-1302.
