Ruth Fearon of Ridgewood died Jan. 3. She was 86. She attended Notre Dame College in Staten Island. She worked for many years in public relations, real estate financing, and international portfolio management. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel R.C. Church in Ridgewood, where she was active in many of the parish’s ministries. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and the Ho-Ho-Kus Woman’s Club. She was of member of the evening department of the Woman’s Club of Ridgewood, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels and with the residents of SHARE on Prospect Street. Arrangements were made by Feeney Funeral Home in Ridgewood. A memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, Jan. 9 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel R.C. Church, 1 Passaic Street in Ridgewood at 10:45 a.m. Giovanna Marie Gilsenan, nee Frazza, of Ridgewood died Dec. 31. She was 85. She was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. She had been a nurse at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Ridgewood, and a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She is survived by her children William Gilsenan, Elizabeth Howley, Mary Nelson, Margaret Gilsenan, Eileen Smith, and Giovanna Kinahan, many grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Wanda “Sunny” Knolke, nee Gorski, of Glen Rock died Dec. 17. She was 90. She had worked as an executive secretary for Englehard Minerals and Chemicals of Newark. She is survived by her sister Lillian Peluso of Warren, her nephew Charles A. Miller of Fairfax, Virginia, her grandniece Lauren Slusher of Centerville, Virginia, and her sister-in-law Helen Gorski of Jacksonville, Florida. She was predeceased by her husband Louis A. Knolke. Arrangements were made by Browning Forshay Funeral Home in Hawthorne. George R. McCanless of Mahwah died Dec. 30. He was 78. He graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, trained as a pilot in the Air Force, and went to work for IBM, where his job as world account manager for Esso took him around the world. He later ran his own leasing company, CEI. He served as the treasurer of the Computer Dealers & Lessors Association, and was a member of the Ridgewood Country Club. loping Hill Road, Kenilworth, NJ 07033. Joseph L. Morrison Jr. of Antigua, Wisconsin, formerly of Mahwah, died Dec. 28. He was 94. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He graduated from the Academy of Aeronautics and attended Fordham University. He was an inventor, a patent holder, a pilot, and president of Radio Relay Corp and Route 206 Realty. He is survived by his children Bruce of Leonia; Ginger of Mahwah; Paul of Austin, Texas; Dick of Dallas, Texas; Larry of Randolph; and Tom and David, both of Salt Lake City, Utah. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and his sister Audrey T. McGovern. He was predeceased by his wife Virginia C. (nee Moses). Before retiring, she was employed at National Community Bank in Maywood. She is survived by her son Ronald Peters, and her daughter and son-in-law Janet and Fred Bradbury, her granddaughters Ashlee and Tara, her niece Sharon Rader, and her cousin Isabell Everett. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. Paul H. Schneider of Midland Park died Dec. 24. He was 85. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. He worked for Railway Express Agency and at Park Crest Cleaners. He coached his daughters’ softball team, served on high school graduation balls, and volunteered for many years with the MPHS Boosters. He is survived by his wife Helen R. (nee Kolenut) Schneider, his children Janice Garigliano of Montvale, Jackie Berlengi of Rivervale, Nancy Kopack of Ringwood, Don Schneider of Hawthorne, and Patty Blice of Ijamsville, Maryland, nine grandchildren, and his sister Elizabeth Cargill of Hawthorne. He was predeceased by his father Paul Schneider, his mother Margaret, his brothers Ralph and Herb, and his grandson Ryan Kopack. Arrangements were made by Browning-Forshay Funeral Home in Hawthorne. Memorial donations may be made to the Lupus, Kidney or Multiple Sclerosis foundations. John Edward Sweeney of Ramsey died Dec. 28. He was 75. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union #28 of New York. He is survived by his children Maria Sweeney Tevis of Mahwah; Beth Sweeney Hough of Queensbury, New York; John Sweeney of Glen Falls, New York; Kathleen Sweeney and Andrew Sweeney, both of Ramsey; and Megan Sweeney Waite of Northfield, Illinois. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, and his brothers Thomas and Raymond Sweeney. He was predeceased by his wife Maria Stroell Sweeney, and his siblings Mary Anne Sweeney and James Sweeney. Ignatz “Nick” Unger of Wyckoff died Dec. 30. He was 88. He was born in Bakonyjako, Hungary, and immigrated to the United States in 1954. He was employed for 35 years at Jensen and Mitchell Spring and Suspension Company in Paterson, and worked many weekends with his friend Mike Kaufmann building homes in the North Jersey area. He is survived by his wife Rosalia Unger, his sons William and Steven, four grandchildren, and one great-grandson. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home in Franklin Lakes. Harry R. Vriesema of Ridgewood, formerly of Midland Park, died Dec. 29. He was 77. He was a self-employed landscape contractor in the northwest Bergen County area. He was a member of the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church, where he served as a deacon. He is survived by his wife Barbara (nee Blom), his children Richard, William, John, and Linda Boonstra, 15 grandchildren, and his brothers Henry, Samuel, and Kenneth. Dorothy Wynbeek, nee Zuidema, of Wyckoff, formerly of North Haledon, died Dec. 31. She was 97. She was a member of the Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Paterson, where she was a member of the choir, the Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church of Wyckoff, and attended services at the Christian Health Care Center, where she was a greeter and distributed hymnals. She is survived by her children Len, Dot Beltman, Buzz, and John, nine grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Adrian, four sisters, five brothers, and her daughter-in-law Ruth Wynbeek. Ruth Ann Wynbeek, nee Baker, of Midland Park died Dec. 30. She was 70. She was a member of the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church where she was a deaconess, a Stephen minister, a member of the Ruth Circle, and served on the Newsletter Committee. She volunteered at the Corner Closet and at Eastern Christian Elementary School. She partnered with her husband in Midland Park Graphics, and later worked for Action Graphics in Lincoln Park before retiring in 2003. She is survived by her husband Len Wynbeek, her children Debi Braunius, Len Jr., Karen Vielee, and Jim, eight grandchildren, and her sisters Tilda Roetman and Jan Hey. She was predeceased by her siblings Mae Marie Boote and Maynard Baker. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff.
