Page 18 THE VILLADOM TIMES II, III & IV • February 27, 2013 New DVD releases (continued from Restaurant page) deleted scenes. “Africa: Eye to Eye with the Unknown” (BBC Warner), narrated by David Attenborough, is a six-part series that provides a portrait of the five distinct regions of the continent. Filmed over a four-year period in 27 countries, the film shows the last great gathering place of the rhinoceros, male leaf-folding frogs in the Gola Forest kickboxing for dominance, and chimpanzees in the Congo using four different tools to hunt for honey. The photography is a highlight of the series as it captures never-before-filmed wildlife behavior, fascinating creatures, and spectacular landscapes. Other footage features eagles catching giant bats in flight, lizards stalking their prey on the backs of lions, antelope-hunting monkeys, and a giraffe fight. The film also depicts the world’s rarest fish species -- a Congo fish that flies like a butterfly -- and a love-struck beetle that goes to incredible lengths to attract a mate. Bonus features on both Blu-ray and DVD editions include interviews, unseen footage from Ethiopia’s Harenna Forest, making-of featurette, outtakes, and deleted scenes. “Nobody Gets Out Alive” (Image Entertainment) charts the path of Hunter Isth (Brian Gallagher), whose life is turned upside down when his young daughter is killed by a drunk driver. In mourning, depressed and angry, Hunter disappears and is rumored to have moved away from Braiden Woods. As years pass, Hunter and his devastating story evolve into a local legend, a myth that many consider to be just that, until some partying teenagers accidentally find themselves trapped in a brutal fight for survival with a legend bent on vengeance. Director Jason Christopher harks back to slasher horror flicks of the 1980s in his approach. Many elements will be familiar to fans of the genre, particularly the bloody, gruesome death scenes, which are quite graphic. DVD extras include audio commentary, outtakes, and making-of featurette.
