Dorothy Louise Capasso of Ridgewood, formerly of Teaneck, died Jan. 25. She was 82. She was a supervisor at New York Telephone in New York City, and later was a branch counselor for The Bergen Record in Ridgewood for over 20 years. She was a parishioner of the Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River, where she was a member of the funeral ministry and anniversary committee. She was active with Biddy Basketball in Ridgewood for over 40 years, and served as the group’s vice president and treasurer. She is survived by her husband Nicholas M. Capasso, her son Michael Capasso, two grandchildren, and her sister Marilyn Moore. Arrangements were made by Feeney Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Alice Ciarlo, nee Phillips, of Ridgewood, formerly of Paterson, died Jan. 24. She was 77. She was the owner and proprietor of Casa Mia Restaurant in Wayne for 15 years before retiring in 1991. She is survived by her children Carmen Melly and Gail Sabaliauskas, both of Butler, and Karen Mc Daniel of Paramus, three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Lena Cortese of Wayne and James Phillips of Manahawkin. She was predeceased by her husband Angelo E. Ciarlo. Henry Charles “Bud” DeHos, formerly of Ridgewood, died Jan. 20 in Lake Zurich, Illinois. He was 81. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He attended Hackley School, graduated from Ridgewood High School in 1949, and attended the University of Maryland. He worked in a variety of businesses throughout his life. He was formerly a member of SPEBSQSA, a barbershop quartet. After living in Albrightsville, Pennsylvania in the mid 1970s, he relocated to San Antonio, Texas, where he resided until moving to Lake Zurich, Illinois in 2011. He is survived by his daughter Dawn Cooper of Barrington, Illinois, one grandson, a niece, a nephew, and four great-nieces and great-nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Helen (nee Cortese), his parents Henry and Mildred, his sister Dorothy Christie, and his infant brother Charles. Van Emburgh Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Edward W. Neumann Jr. of Preswick Glen in New Hartford, New York, formerly of Glen Rock, died Jan. 24. He was 81. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He graduated with a degree in metallurgical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1952. He earned an MBA from the Wharton School of Business. He was a financial analyst for AT&T in Chicago and New York City, and later worked as a real estate agent in Glen Rock. He volunteered as the treasurer of Meals on Wheels, quartermaster for the VFW Post 850 in Glen Rock, and with the resident’s board at Preswick Glen. He is survived by his sons William of Denville, Thomas of Clinton, New York, James of Lexington, Massachusetts, and Robert of Glen Rock, and six grandchildren. Elaine Stinavage Smith, nee Hatch, of Palm Coast, Florida, formerly of Ramsey, died Jan. 22. She graduated from Ramsey High School in 1941, and worked for the Federal Reserve Bank in New York until her marriage to Edwin Smith on February 4, 1945. She was active in the VFW Auxiliary 8867 in Bricktown until the death of her husband Edwin in 1975. In 1982, she married Edmund Stinavage. She is survived by her husband Edmund Stinavage, her children William T. Smith and Donna Boutelle, and four grandchildren. Arrangements were made by Clymer Funeral Home in Palm Coast, Florida. Jean P. Stewart of Lakewood, formerly of Ramsey, died Jan. 29. She was 85. She graduated from Sewanhaka High School in Floral Park, New York. She was a member of Saint Paul’s R.C. Church in Ramsey, where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She worked as a sales and floor manager at Lord and Taylor in Paramus. She is survived by her husband James J. Stewart, her children James of Ramsey and Susanne Stewart of Warwick, New York, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and her sister Betty Reinhardt of Stony Brook, New York. John Veleber of Roscoe, New York, formerly of Ridgewood and Weeke Watchi, Florida, died Jan. 28. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Farleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck. Before retiring in 1993, he was employed with Pilgrim Bank in Cedar Grove. His career in the banking industry spanned 40 years. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ridgewood. He is survived by his wife Hilda S. (Emker) Veleber, his children Sue Baumgartner, Kathy Harper, and John Veleber, four grandchildren, and his sisters Sue, Anne, and Mary. He was predeceased by his daughter Debra Gilligan. Weber of Cooperstown, New York, formerly of Waldwick, died Jan. 28. She was 82. She was a member of the Waldwick Fire Department Auxiliary. She was a communicant of Saint Luke’s Church in Ho-Ho-Kus, where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society, and of Saint Mary’s “Our Lady of the Lake” Roman Catholic Church in Cooperstown. She was a member of the Woman’s Club of Cooperstown and served as a volunteer at the Louis Busch Hager Cancer Center at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. She earned an associate degree to serve as a home health aide. She is survived by her husband Jack Weber of Cooperstown, her children Nancy Tallman of Fly Creek, New York, Christy Soell of Allendale, and Ron Weber of New Paltz, New York, eight grandchildren, and several cousins.
