April 17. 2013 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 3 Glen Rock The Glen Rock Borough Council has adopted the ordinance funding improvements at a bonded cost of $1,195,575. The vote took place at last week’s borough council meeting. The projects or items being funded are considered a necessary part of the infra- Council approves funding for improvements structure. The adoption was unanimous among those council members present, with Mayor John van Keuren and Councilwoman Joan Orseck absent. The appropriations include incremental funding to cover 2013 street resurfacing, estimated to last for 10 years, at a number of locations. Funds were also approved for improvements to the retaining walls at the New Jersey Transit Railroad Bridge, partial funding of a new street sweeper vehicle, a lift for the mechanic’s garage, and local drainage improvement and root control. The council also approved funding for the upgrading and repair of various sewer stations, expected to last for 40 years, and for a new pickup truck for the Glen Rock Department of Public Works. That vehicle is expected to last for five years. Security upgrades for the police department records and computers and a new storage shed were approved, and the council voted to set aside funds for partial payment on a new fire engine in the future. Repairs and upgrades for the swimming pool were approved as was the second phase of the renovation of Wilde Park and the Hamilton Avenue/Belmont Road drainage project. ADA improvements to the restrooms at Children’s Park and improvements to the Glen Rock Library, including repairs to the sidewalk, patio, and cupola, were matched equally by funding from the Glen Rock Library, with each side paying $34,500. New technology for Glen Rock TV, which covers the council meetings and provides local announcements, was also voted. J. KOSTER The Community Relations Committee of the Glen Rock Board of Education will sponsor a Forum for Feedback on Thursday, April 18. The community is invited. The informal exchange will provide an opportunity for all to share their perspectives on the many new challenges and opportunities facing the school district in the coming months, including the home- Board sets information forum work policy, the new staff evaluation procedure, the activity fee, and technological advancements under consideration. The event will also provide an opportunity for the public to meet Superintendent Dr. Paula Valenti. The forum will be held at 7 p.m. in Room S114 at Glen Rock High School. The high school is located at 400 Hamilton Avenue.
