Historian Neil Cosgrove will discuss Terrence MacSwiney, who was the Lord Mayor of Cork during the Irish War of Independence in the 1920s. MacSwiney died on a hunger strike. All are welcome. YMCA holds spring registration Registration for the Ridgewood YMCA’s spring session will open Monday, April 15 at 8:30 a.m. The eight-week session will begin April 22 and continue through June 16. In addition to great schedule of programs available for children and adults of all ages, the Y will offer “Mom and Baby Yoga,” a fitness class for new mothers with babies up to six months old. Taught by certified instructor Melissa Troest, the class will take place on Wednesdays from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. The postpartum yoga class is designed to strengthen new mothers’ bodies and allows moms to practice yoga with their babies. The class incorporates deep breathing, stretches, balancing, and relaxation that will awaken the body’s systems and senses while supporting participants through the demanding first year of motherhood. Church sets benefit, square dance On Wednesday, April 10, Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse at 95 Linwood Avenue in Washington Township will sponsor a Community Night fundraiser benefiting Ridgewood’s historic Old Paramus Reformed Church. The day of the fundraiser, the restaurant will donate 20 percent of all lunch and dinner purchases to the church. To participate, diners must present a Charlie Brown’s Steakhouse coupon from Old Paramus Church’s website, www.oldparamus.org. The coupon is located at the bottom of the church’s homepage. Restaurant hours are 11:30 a.m. to midnight. The church invites the community to a free square dance on April 20.
