Page 6 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • April 10. 2013 Ridgewood Ridgewood resident Ryan Paradis has been selected to serve as an intern at the U.S. Army Peacekeeping and Stability Operations Institute this summer. Paradis is a 2012 honors graduate of Don Bosco Preparatory School in Ramsey, and is currently a freshman at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The U.S. Army Peacekeeping and Stability Operations Institute serves as the U.S. Army’s Center of Excellence for Stability and Peace Operations at the strategic and operational levels in order to improve military, civilian agency, and international and multinational capabilities Ryan Paradis interns at Peacekeeping Institute and execution. The PKSOI is responsible for shaping US government policy and concept/doctrine development, enhancing senior leader proficiency, facilitating joint, interagency, and multinational unity of purpose and supporting planning, preparation, and execution of stability and peace operations. Paradis, who was selected from a highly competitive pool of applicants, has been assigned to the PKSOI’s Security, Reconstruction, and Transition Division and will work under the mentorship of Lieutenant Colonel Richard Coplen (Ret). Paradis hopes to further his knowledge in The Unitarian Society of Ridgewood’s Café Concert series will continue on Saturday, April 20 with the folk music of Tom Chapin. Wine, dessert, and coffee, all provided by local vendors, will be available before the shows and during intermission. The program begins at 8 p.m. Dessert and wine will be served when the doors open at 7 p.m. Café Concert series to continue Tom Chapin Chapin’s five-decade career has included 23 albums and three Grammy Awards. As a music-maker, Chapin has maintained two long and productive parallel careers, both as a highly respected contemporary folk artist and as a pioneer in the field of children’s music. In addition to his work as a recording artist and concert performer, Chapin has acted on Broadway, and has worked extensively in films, television, and radio.
