Page 4 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • April 10. 2013 Ridgewood A 24-year-old Wayne resident has been lodged in Bergen County Jail in lieu of $40,000 after his girlfriend reportedly implicated him in a burglary that took place in Ridgewood on Aug. 13, 2012. The Ridgewood Police Department received information from Pompton Lakes police that led to the questioning of the girlfriend and the arrest of the Wayne man, who has been charged with burglary and theft for a crime that Village jails Wayne man for 2012 burglary reportedly took place on Northern Parkway. The girlfriend reportedly admitted to being present during the burglary. The apprehension of the burglar by Detective Douglas Williams took place March 28. In an unrelated incident that same day, an Ethelbert Place resident reported that her vehicle had been entered and a purse had been stolen. On April 4, a Fairmount Road resident reported jewelry missing from her home. The resident said people had been working in her home during the time frame of the theft. No signs of forced entry were found. Ridgewood Police remind residents that they should know any contractors who are working at their homes or to at least know the company for which the contractors work. Many crimes are reported each year, implicating people who entered homes voluntarily to do part-time housekeeping or minor repair work. At 1:08 a.m. on March 29, a firebox pull station was activated on the corner of East Ridgewood Avenue and North Van Dien Avenue. A juvenile male was seen fleeing the scene. The Ridgewood Police also report that two female shoplifters were recorded by surveillance video stealing articles of clothing on March 30. The girls left the store, but the video recording showed the thefts. The police department is investigating. Under RPD investigation A teenager, believed to be of middle school age, sustained a serious leg injury as a result of being struck by a BMW SUV near the intersection of South Van Dien Avenue and Hanks Avenue. The victim was transported by ambulance to Hackensack University Medical Center by members of the Ridgewood Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Also responding to the scene to provide medical assistance were personnel from Ridgewood Fire Department’s Engine Company #35 and a paramedic unit from The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood.
