Advisory group to meet The Senior Citizen Advisory Committee of Glen Rock, chaired by Doris Ciaramella, will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 9. The group meets in the municipal building located at Harding Plaza. All are invited. The committee reminds seniors in Glen Rock that the borough continues to provide transportation for residents age 65 and older and for disabled adults who cannot drive. Board sets information forum The Community Relations Committee of the Glen Rock Board of Education will sponsor a Forum for Feedback on Thursday, April 18. The community is invited. The informal exchange will provide an opportunity for all to share their perspectives on the many new challenges and opportunities facing the school district in the coming months, including the homework policy, the new
staff evaluation procedure, the activity fee, and technological advancements under consideration. The event will also provide an opportunity for the public to meet Superintendent Dr. Paula Valenti. The forum will be held at 7 p.m. in Room S114 at Glen Rock High School. The high school is located at 400 Hamilton Avenue. Library offers programs for adults During the month of April, the Glen Rock Public Library will offer two programs for adults. These programs are being sponsored by the Friends of the Glen Rock Library, and both will begin at 7 p.m. Kevin Woyce will present a program on New Jersey State Parks at the Glen Rock Library on Thursday, April 18. The 7 p.m. program will include a slide show of original photography, vintage maps, and images of historical people, places, and events. Registration is not necessary. On April 25, Lakshmi Ramesh and Kristen Breen will present Cooking Harabhara: Food the Indian Way. Ramesh and Breen will create an appetizer, salad, and a refreshing drink known as a lassi. Registration for this program is required. Space is limited.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish Center, 1 Passaic Street in Ridgewood. Tickets are $45 and include a buffet dinner and dessert. Attendees are invited to bring their own beverages. Tickets for the prize baskets and auction will be sold separately. Proceeds from the night benefit the Monsignor Holmes Tuition Assistance Program, the school’s needs-based scholarship fund. Academy of Our Lady is supported by the parishes of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Ridgewood and Saint Catharine Church in Glen Rock. Learn about orchids Margaret Bridge will present a program about orchids at the Glen Rock Garden Club’s April 16 meeting. The group will meet at 7:45 p.m. at the Glen Rock Municipal Annex Building at 678 Maple Avenue. Bridge regularly presents classes on orchid culture and related topics because her mission is “to share the wonder of orchids with the world!” Her wholesale and retail orchid business shipped 3,500 plants to the New York Botanical Garden for the 2011 orchid show, a contract that was renewed for the 2012 show.
