Annual Spring House Tour slated The Woman’s Club of Ridgewood will sponsor its 16th Annual Spring House Tour on Thursday, May 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The tour, which will feature homes located in and around Ridgewood, is the largest fundraiser hosted by the Woman’s Club of Ridgewood, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the community. Last year, approximately 1,000 people participated in the house tour, which netted over $35,000 for charities that serve women and children. The club awarded grants to local charities, including Children’s Aid and Family Services, Camp Sunshine, Oasis, the Daniel Jordan Fiddle Foundation, and the Social Services Association of Ridgewood. Tickets for this year’s tour are $45 per person. The cost is tax-deductible. Tickets are available at www.ridgewoodwomansclub.com, and at the clubhouse located at 215 West Ridgewood Avenue in Ridgewood. Tickets will also be available the week before the tour at various merchants in Ridgewood, including Mango Jam, Town & Country Apothecary, Backyard Living, Goffle Brook Farm, Karma Organic Spa, and Pink Bungalow. Veterans invited to YMCA program The Wyckoff Family YMCA will hold its second Roll Call for Veterans program and breakfast on Tuesday, April 23 at 9 a.m. The event will be held at the Y located at 691 Wyckoff Avenue in Wyckoff. Animal refuge holds fundraiser The Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. will hold a Gift and Craft Sale at the Copper Tree Mall, 350 Ramapo Valley Road (Route 202) in Oakland, on Friday, April 12 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, April 13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Shoppers will find a wide range of beautiful gifts, some animal-related, many not. All proceeds directly benefit the animals at RBARI. For more information, visit www.rbari.org. 5K Walk/Run to benefit needy families Giants of Generosity, a Bergen County charity, will host the Running on Love 5K Walk/Run on Sunday, April 21. The event will take place in Montclair. The organization encourages Bergen County residents to participate in this charity event in one of two ways: register to walk or run in honor of a loved one and invite friends and family to sponsor the Giants of Generosity team, or make a contribution via the organization’s fundraising page at http://www. active.com/donate/ROLinMontclair/GOG2013. Running on Love is a major fundraiser for Giants of Generosity. Proceeds will help the organization continue its mission to ease the burden on people in crisis within local communities. Ready to rumble
Don your leathers and grab your brain bucket for the May 19 Ramapo Rumble, a scenic 90-mile ride through the back roads of northern New Jersey. The event is sponsored by the Ramapo College Foundation. Participants may register at 8:30 a.m. the day of the event, or online at www.ramapo.edu/foundation/events/rally/index.html. The ride will begin at Ramapo College, 505 Ramapo Valley Road, Mahwah. This poker run has three stopping points, where riders will pick up additional cards and enjoy refreshments. There will be a barbecue lunch for riders, families, and friends on the Bandshell Lawn on the college’s campus after the ride. Live music by Shaved Ham, awards, and a prize will also will follow the ride. Proceeds benefit Ramapo College student scholarships, faculty, and student research opportunities, and campus capital projects. The cost is $25 for riders and $15 for passengers. Rain date: June 2.
