They also urged Garrett to do what he could to expand credit lines for merchants whose small businesses require credit to stay in operation. Garrett, whose daughters have now grown up, enjoyed exploring the toy store and remembering the types of toys he had purchased for his children, and toys that had been purchased for him when he was a boy. “I remember marbles,” he said, winking ruefully at a nostalgic visitor. He was impressed with the wider variety of toys and stuffed animals available to today’s children. Garrett and his field representative, Daniel Pfeiffer, spent about a half hour talking about and sharing the concerns of the two Glen Rock merchants, who are located a few doors away. J. Congressman Scott Garrett stopped off to talk with Dee Stevens and her husband Gary Stevens about the needs of small business people in today’s economy. The informal meeting was held last week at the Grow-Cery on Rock Road in Glen Rock. Congressman Garrett said he came to listen rather than to speak, and had no prepared remarks. He said, however, that he was keenly interested in small businesses because of the role these businesses play in creating new jobs, and wanted to hear what some local merchants had to say. Students (continued from page 7) At that time, Sullivan said he and Midland Park Superintendent of Schools Dr. Marie Cirasella would be meeting with Ridgewood. Additional discussions are also planned with Northern Highlands Regional High School in Allendale, and perhaps other districts, Sullivan added. He pointed out that the district is “just gathering information to share with the board, and nobody should assume that the board has reached any sort of consensus on send/receive.” The board president said the goal is to have as much information as possible available to the board in making decisions.
