May 29, 2013 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • Page 19 Park Windmill Knights host Community Night The Midland Park Knights of Columbus will host its Community Night on Thursday, June 6 at 7:30 p.m. The event will be held in Kennedy Hall at the Church of the Nativity at 315 Prospect Street. Knights will distribute donations to local charities, present student scholarships, recognize outstanding teachers, and award stipends to seminarians. The public is welcome to attend. Library announces children’s programs Summer story time registration at the Midland Park Library will begin June 3. The summer program will run June 24 through Aug. 5. Each session requires pre-registration and will include stories and a craft. Story time is 30 to 40 minutes long. Children who are two and three will meet on Mondays or Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. Youngsters who are four through six are invited on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. or 2:30 p.m. Baby time for children ages six through 24 months will be held at 10:30 a.m. on June 5, 12, and 19; July 3, 10, 17, and 24; and Aug 7. The program includes stories, music, rhymes, and play time. Older siblings are welcome. Baby Time does not require registration. On Monday, June 10, the library will host a drop-in Father’s Day Craft for children ages two through six. Children are invited to stop by from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Registration is not required. Registration for the Dig into Reading Summer Reading program will begin June 17. Children of all ages are welcome. Participants will receive a reading log and a Dig into Reading bag. Hulbert to perform Midland Park resident Jason Hulbert will join the New Jersey Choral Society for its upcoming performances of “Mass,” a collection of reflective and inspirational music. Concerts will be held May 31 at the Church of the Immaculate Conception, 30 North Fullerton Avenue in Montclair and June 1 at West Side Presbyterian Church, 6 South Monroe Street in Ridgewood. Both programs will begin at 8 p.m. Hulbert is a member of the Junior High Chorus from the North Jersey Home School Association. One hour prior to concert time there will be a com- plimentary lecture, “The Inside Line,” that provides an insightful and intimate discussion of the music for all ticket holders. Tickets are $25 for general admission and $22 for students, seniors, and patrons with disabilities. Children age 12 and under will be admitted for $12. The New Jersey Choral Society will be collecting non-perishable food items to benefit the Center for Food Action. Boosters hold annual Car Wash The Midland Park High School Athletic Boosters Association will sponsor its annual Car Wash on Saturday, June 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in front of the high school at 250 Prospect Street. Proceeds from the event will benefit the student athletes. Concert to benefit food pantry The Midland Park United Methodist Church at 269 Godwin Avenue will hold a benefit concert for CUMAC in Paterson on June 1. Robert Hill & Friends will open the show at 7 p.m., followed by the local bluegrass group, Blue Plate Special. A suggested donation of $10 is requested. Those who attend are asked to bring a non-perishable canned good to help feed the hungry in the area and those affected by Hurricane Sandy who still need help. Church hosts Spring Garage Sale The Midland Park United Methodist Church located at 269 Godwin Avenue will host its annual Spring Garage Sale on Saturday, June 1. The sale will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will feature household goods, toys, bric-abrack, videos, and more. Hot dogs and water will be available for purchase. AARP offers Defensive Driving Course The Northwest Bergen Senior Activity Center in Midland Park will hold an AARP Defensive Driving Course on Tuesday, June 4 from 9:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Seniors are invited to sharpen their driving skills. Most drivers who take this course will qualify for an automobile insurance premium reduction or discount. The $16 fee includes the course, lunch, and refreshments. A wide variety of activities, services, and a hot lunch program are offered Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Salary ordinance (continued from page 7) fees paid to officials assigned to the borough’s athletic teams, such as: professional basketball referees, who will receive up to $70 per game; and non-professional basketball referees for grades three to eight, who will receive $20 per game. Baseball/softball umpires will get up to $35 per game behind the plate, and $25 in the field for pony league and senior girls’ softball; up to $30 and $20 respectively for Ramapo and intermediate girls’ softball and Tiny Tim; and up to $70 per game behind the plate or in the field for professional baseball/softball umpires. Football referees will receive up to $70 per person per game and cheerleading coaches receive up to $10 per hour. Soccer referees will receive $25 to $65 per game depending on the division and lacrosse boys’ professional referees will receive up to $70 per game and the one and a half rate will be $105 per game. Girls’ lacrosse professional referees will receive $60 per game and high school referees will get $25 per game.
