May 22, 2013 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • Page 21 Wyckoff ‘Roll Call for Our Veterans’ draws 300 participants The second annual “Roll Call for Our Veterans,” hosted by the Wyckoff Family YMCA, drew over 300 veterans and guests. Many veterans who attended served in Vietnam and Korea, and several served in World War II. United States Marine Corps Major Jennifer Bone of Wyckoff and USMC Corporal Amy McCambridge of Ridgewood told their personal stories of military service and how their experiences have affected their lives in the past 10-15 years. Both women received standing ovations. The Wyckoff Family YMCA Pre-K class led the flag salute, the Vietnam Veterans of America Bergen County Chapter 800 from Little Ferry posted the colors, Alexis Rodda led the national anthem, and Father Charles Arlin, LTC, USAR of Saint John’s Episcopal Church of New City, New York offered the invocation and benediction. Entertainment was provided by the Blue Chip Chorus of Bergen County and the Police Pipes and Drums of Bergen County. This event is part of the Veterans’ Initiative started by the Wyckoff Family YMCA two years ago to ensure that all veterans in the northern New Jersey area are acknowledged and thanked for the service and sacrifices they made for their country.
