Public safety complex
(continued from page 3) used to cover purchases such as fire apparatus and ambulances; infrastructure related to public safety facilities including, but not limited to, installation of sanitary sewers; and the installation of hydrants and water lines for fire suppression purposes in areas of the borough that do not have that infrastructure. “Additional needs will surface in the years to come,” Bivona said, “and the public safety trust fund will continue to focus on the short- and long-term public safety capital needs of the borough. The borough is fortunate to have many volunteers who provide many of these essential services which save taxpayers millions of dollars. But providing our volunteers and public safety personnel with the proper infrastructure and equipment is critical to maintaining and expanding the borough’s volunteer base and providing an outstanding police force. “Public safety is the borough’s most important role, and this fund is committed to ensure that we will be able to continue to meet the needs of our community going forward. “We are fortunate to live in a borough with so many great residents who give their time and talents dedicated to many areas of our community, including public safety. We are also fortunate to have such a vast, dedicated and experienced public safety team which we call upon daily to make our lives safer. Donations to the public safety trust fund will further our efforts and ensure excellence in our public safety services. Without fundraising, our visions cannot be met while maintaining the second lowest municipal property tax rate in Bergen County.” The borough will host fundraising events, including an annual event as part of the borough’s Oktoberfest. This year, the Oktoberfest event, Franklin Lakes Night Fundraiser for Public Safety, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 19. Borough Administrator Gregory Hart urged residents to contact him at (201) 8910048 or by e-mail at GHart@franklinlakes. org for more information about how to donate to the public safety trust fund.
