(continued from page 7) Elementary School left their purses in their cars when they visited the school for brief amounts of time. The women each discovered, later in the day, that someone had entered their cars and removed credit cards and cash from the purses. Surveillance video tapes from stores later revealed that the same person was seen using the credit cards to make purchases. The continuing investigation reportedly showed that the person using the credit cards was the Bronx man, who had an extensive record of credit card thefts and had been arrested in Wyckoff alone four times since 2002. Police report that the suspect spends considerable time in northern New Jersey, where he reportedly roams the parking lots of churches, schools, and stores looking for unlocked cars with visible purses or wallets. He reportedly limits his thefts to cash and credit cards. Because the thefts are unnoticed for several hours, he has frequently evaded detection. Police Sergeant Michael Musto charged the New York resident with two counts of burglary from an auto, theft, and illegal use of a credit card on April 22 and a warrant was issued by Wyckoff Municipal Judge Russell Teschon. Police sent out an alert describing the vehicle he is known to drive and he was stopped on Route 208 on May 5 without incident.
