The session will be held in the music room at Franklin Lakes Middle School, 755 Franklin Avenue in Franklin Lakes. Church announces ‘Opening Heart’ concert Painter Jennifer Levine and singer/songwriter Scott Massarsky will present “Opening Heart,” an evening of songs, stories, and pictures on Saturday, May 18. This 8 p.m. performance will be held at High Mountain Presbyterian Church at 730 Franklin Lake Road in Franklin Lakes. The performers will be joined by cellist Jessie Edwards and percussionist and multi-instrumentalist Matt Olsson. Attendees are invited to the opening reception at 7:30 p.m. to view Levine’s paintings in the gallery and narthex of the church and to enjoy refreshments. Memorial Day Parade set Pay tribute to the country’s fallen heroes at the annual Franklin Lakes Memorial Day Parade set for Monday, May 27 at 9 a.m. The parade will step off from Commerce Street and proceed down Franklin Avenue to Veterans’ Plaza, where there will be a ceremony commemorating U.S. military heroes. U.S. Army Sergeant Michael Bann will serve as this year’s grand marshal. Bann has served in Desert Storm and was the recipient of several medals and awards. The Newark Firefighters Pipe Band will be marching with the high school bands from Ramapo and Hawthorne. Franklin Lakes organizations including Scouts and representatives from the fire, police, and ambulance departments will also be participating. Attendees are invited to decorate their bicycles and join the parade. Refreshments will be served. As part of the day’s events, the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. will sponsor a Critter Walk.
