Register for sports programs Registration for Wyckoff Recreation’s flag football, football, cheerleading, and summer sports camp programs will be held May 18 from 9 to 11 a.m. and May 21 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Eisenhower School cafeteria. The school is located at 344 Calvin Court. There will also be an opportunity to sign up for the remaining spaces in this year’s summer programs for boys and girls. Those programs include baseball, basketball, tennis, volleyball, soccer clinics, roller hockey, kickball, and a cheerleading clinic. Registration materials will also be available for Bergen’s Best Soccer Camp, the Wyckoff YMCA football and basketball camps, the North Jersey Lacrosse Camp, and a multi-sport camp for children ages three through 14. Camps will be held in Wyckoff. The Flag Football program is open to Wyckoff residents who will be entering kindergarten through grade two in September 2013. Each grade level will practice separately. The program will run on Saturday afternoons at Community Park from midlate September through early-mid November. Children are permitted to play K-2 flag football and soccer at the same time; the times will not conflict. Parents interested in coaching are welcome. The junior football program is open to Wyckoff children who will be entering grades three through eight in the fall. Two identical wallet-size pictures are required at the time of registration. Registrants, even those who participated last year, must also bring a copy of their birth certificate. The fee for this program is $185. Girls who will be entering grades five through eight are invited to participate in football cheerleading. Practices will begin in August and the season will run through mid-November. Children’s retreat host events The Ladies’ Auxiliary of the Eastern Christian Children’s Retreat will host its Annual Fashion Show and Dinner on Tuesday, May 14. The event will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Brownstone Inn, 351 West Broadway in Paterson. This year’s fundraiser will feature fashions by Dress Barn and a special auction. Tickets are $40. To purchase tickets, call (201) 848-8005 or email info@eccretreat.org. Proceeds will benefit the residents of the Eastern Christian Children’s Retreat. On June 6, the ECCR will host a dinner cruise aboard the Spirit of New Jersey. The ship will depart from Lincoln Harbor Marine in Weehawken and sail the Hudson River. The Eastern Christian Children’s Retreat, a non profit organization, provides residential programs and services for individuals with developmental disabilities. The retreat has facilities in Wyckoff, North Haledon, Hawthorne, and Midland Park. Chamber sponsors Photo Contest The Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce invites residents to submit photos of the township to the “Warming Thoughts of Wyckoff” photo contest. The Chamber will award gift certificates to the top three photos in the following categories: age 14 years and under; and age 15 to adult. To enter, e-mail a photo to photos@wyckoffchamber.com. Be sure to include name, address, telephone number, and age. Some entries will be selected to publication in the Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce Directory. Entries must be submitted by May 15. Parade participants sought The Township of Wyckoff is seeking participants to march in Wyckoff’s Memorial Day Parade. The parade is scheduled for Monday, May 27 at 11:30 a.m. An invitation is extended to the men and women who have served our country and to the local schools, churches, Scouts, and organizations. A special invitation is extended to all Gold Star Mothers who would like to attend the Veterans Memorial Service at 10 a.m. Participants will assemble behind Cornerstone Church at 495 Wyckoff Avenue. The parade will leave the church parking lot and turn left onto Wyckoff Avenue, continue Wyckoff Avenue, and turn right on Main Street, right onto Franklin Avenue, and conclude behind town hall at the ambulance corps building.
