The Midland Park High School Band program with support from the Midland Park Elementary PTA and the Midland Park Performing Arts Parents recently hosted Break of Reality, as guests of the Midland Park School District. While in the district, the group performed two workshops with the students at Highland School. These assemblies focused on the origin of the rock cello group and concepts of music and composition. Later that evening, Break of Reality performed a concert for the Midland Park Community. The partnership between the Midland Park High School Band Program and Break of Reality will continue. In the fall, The Marching Band will be perform the work “Anodynia” that was composed and performed by Break of Reality. Members of the rock group are serving as consultants to the MPHS Marching Band as the show is designed and performed. Midland Park will be the first band ever to perform Break of Reality’s music on the marching field. A founding member of Break of Reality, Patrick Laird, is a 2003 graduate of Midland Park High School and the MPHS music program. Break of Reality is a cello rock band originally formed at the Eastman
