Leaf collection
(continued from page 4) damage to township equipment. Leaf piles that are obviously full of branches will not be collected. Branches should be separated from leaves and tied in three-foot lengths for separate disposal along with household garbage and trash. Residents are also encouraged to save and dry branches, sticks, and twigs for use in home fireplaces. Residents are also encouraged to compost grass clippings and leaves. The Wyckoff Recycling & Conservation Center on West Main Street is open weekdays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. so residents can deposit leaves and brush and can pick up mulch for their home gardens. Wyckoff attempts to limit disposal of garbage, trash, and yard waste by truck pickup to reduce expenses and pressure on the landfills that ultimately receive the waste. Residents are urged not to park their cars on leaf piles, because the catalytic converters underneath the cars can touch off fires, which may engulf the vehicle and others parked nearby.
