On Thursday, March 28, there will be a light supper commemorating Jesus’ “Last Supper” in the upper room with his disciples. This 6:30 p.m. supper will be followed by a worship service with Holy Communion. All are welcome. Please bring a hot or cold dish to share. Holy Week will conclude with the Easter Resurrection Worship Service on Sunday, March 31 at 10:30 a.m. The service will feature special music from the choir and the children’s choir and a special message from Reverend Tom Larkin. Church prepares for Holy Week Holy Week Services at Old Paramus Reformed Church will begin on Palm Sunday, March 24, at 10 a.m. The Hosanna Day family service will include palms and music. Interim Minister Reverend Phyllis Palsma will deliver the sermon. On Maundy Thursday, March 28, Reverend Palsma will officiate at the symbolic Seder service with Holy Communion served around tables in Fellowship Hall. This service will begin at 7:30 p.m. On March 29, the Good Friday service will include scripture readings, hymns, and prayers. The message for the 7 p.m. service is “The Way to the Cross.” At the closing of the service, the congregation will extinguish the candles and depart into darkness. On Easter Sunday, March 31, the congregation will celebrate the Resurrection at 10 a.m. Festival music will be performed by the choir, accompanied by organ and brass. The choir and congregation will close the service by singing “The Hallelujah Chorus” by Handel. The community is invited to participate in these services. Holy Week at Advent Lutheran Advent Lutheran Church in Wyckoff will celebrate Holy Week with special services. On Holy Thursday, March 28, and Good Friday, March 29, services will be held at 7:30 p.m. The Holy Thursday service will be celebrated with Holy Communion. The church will hold a contemporary service at 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 30. This will be the first service of the Easter celebration. On Easter Sunday, March 31, services will begin at 6:30 a.m. with a SONrise service in the Memorial Garden. This service will be held rain or shine. A Fellowship Breakfast will follow from 8 to 9:15 a.m. A Festival Eucharist will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. At 10:45 a.m., there will be an Easter Egg Hunt. Celebrate Holy Week at Grace Grace United Methodist Church, located at 555 Russell Avenue in Wyckoff, invites the community to “Experience Grace at Easter.” Traditional services are planned for 9 and 11 a.m. on Palm Sunday, March 24. On Holy Thursday, March 28, there will be a noon service in the chapel. At 7:30 p.m. the church will offer Holy Communion and a reenactment of the Last Supper. A Tenebrae service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Good Friday, March 29. Join the church for Easter Breakfast on March 30 at 9 a.m. Reservations for breakfast are required, and may be made by calling the church.
