Midland Park June 26, 2013 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • Page 7 Midland Park High School English teacher Brian Ersalesi, who has led the school’s television program for the past 10 years and directed many of the school’s theater productions, will leave the high school to pursue a career in administration. Ersalesi resigned last week to become the district-wide language arts literacy supervisor in Rutherford. The K-12 district has three K-3 schools, two 4-8 grade schools and a high school. “During your time in our classrooms, you made our district better. We’re going to miss you,” said Board President Ersalesi resigns to pursue administrative post William Sullivan. “We wish you success in your career. We’re glad you had those 1,500 episodes with us,” he added, referring to the high school’s recent showing of its 1,500th “Good Morning Midland Park” television production since he took over in 2003. Ersalesi, who attended the meeting at which his resignation was accepted “with regret” from several board members, said that he had felt “backed up and safe,” even while he operated “outside the box.” He said his new position was not only a step up for professional growth, but also presents a challenge. The English, media and theater arts teacher at MPHS since 2000, Ersalesi started his career in the district as a substitute teacher and play director, with Neil Simon’s “Fools” as his first production in 1998. His last was Peter Pan last November. He is also the traffic reporter for the 1010 WINS radio station. Resident Joan Doumas suggested the administration look for a replacement with television experience. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Marie Cirasella said the job is “first and foremost” an English position, but said she would take a look at other information Doumas recommended. Midland Park’s 2013 road resurfacing program begins this week. Residents are asked to make arrangements to have their vehicles out of their driveways and parked on adjacent roadways by 7 a.m. on the day(s) indicated. Vehicles may go back on the road two hours after the completion of the paving, according to Borough Clerk/Administrator Addie Hanna. Milling will be done on June 25, 26, 27 and 28. Residents will be able to access their homes during the milling process once the milling machine is past their location. On June 28, July 1, 2 and possibly July 2, the roadways Greenwood Avenue, other streets to be resurfaced will be repaved (weather permitting). The schedule is as follows: • All of Greenwood Avenue (note: paving will be June 28 and July 1) • Wostbrock Lane • All of Pine Street • Floral Lane • Smithfield Road • Evergreen Street – from Spruce Street to Waldwick border • Hemlock Street – from Evergreen Street to Waldwick border The borough has allocated $150,000 in its 2013 capital budget for the road work. Bidding is done through an interlocal agreement with other Northwest Bergen towns to more favorable bulk pricing. The Greenwood Avenue work is being done with a $146,500 grant from the NJ Department of Transportation. Related drainage, parking and paving work near the bus station and Veterans Park was completed earlier this spring with an additional NJ DOT of $90,000. Work on the vintage barn at 445 Godwin Avenue in Midland Park, which has been stripped to its core for the last couple of months, will soon begin showing progress, according to David Visbeen of Visbeen Construction, the contractor doing the work. Carpentry work began in earnest last week following the long-awaited installation of gas service, and grading work is in progress. Water and sewer services had been installed earlier. Steel reinforcing has also been completed to support the second floor and accommodate the emergency vehicles in anticipation of closing in the building. A sign identifying the project was expected to go up this week. Purchased by Ridgewood Philanthropist David Bolger earlier this year, who will donate the building to the Midland Park Volunteer Ambulance Corps when completed, the structure will house the ambulance corps on the first floor and a community center on the upper level. Completion date is set for October, Visbeen said. Barn progress evident
