District welcomes new principal, curriculum director
by John Koster The Wyckoff Board of Education has selected Steve Raimo as the new principal of Sicomac School and has named Diane Schulthes as director of curriculum for the entire Wyckoff K-8 system. “I am so fortunate to have been chosen to lead Sicomac School,” Raimo said in a public statement. “This is an exemplary elementary school, and I look forward to partnering with the Sicomac School community to sustain its rigorous academic foundation while also seeking innovations to enhance learning for all students.” Superintendent of Schools Rich Kuder said, “Steve is an insightful, intelligent, and caring educator who will lead Sicomac Elementary School to even greater heights.” Raimo will take over on Aug. 1, replacing Debra Kirsch at the helm of the Sicomac School. He has served as director of planning research and evaluation and was previously the principal of the Dwight D. Eisenhower School for two years after having served as the assistant principal at Eisenhower. He has also worked as an administrator in the Montvale and Allendale public schools. The new principal received his BA in English from Holy Cross College, his MA in teaching from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and his master’s degree in educational administration from Teachers College of Columbia University. His achievements have been recognized on the state level by both the NJPSA and NJASA Associations. Schulthes most recently served as director of curriculum and instruction in the North Arlington school system. Schulthes previously spent 20 years in Tenafly as a classroom teacher, coordinator of gifted education, and district
staff developer. “I look forward to collaborating with teachers, students, families, and community members to sustain and improve a great district,” Schulthes said. Commending on Schulthes, Kuder said, “Mrs. Schulthes is a highly effective educational leader who cares deeply about student success and achievement at all levels. Her experience and depth of knowledge working with gifted and talented students will be a real asset to all the students in the Wyckoff School District.” Schulthes, who will begin at her new post in early July, has served as an educational consultant and has presented workshops at the local, state, and national levels.
