The Community Blood Services’ blood mobile will be in the Commons parking lot from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. To schedule an appointment, call Barbara Lucia, RN, BSN, at (201) 848-5872. All types of blood are needed especially types O- and O+. Any healthy individual age 17 through 75 and weighing at least 110 pounds can donate blood. Donors should eat a moderate meal before donating and must bring identification showing signature. All donors receive a complimentary glucose and cholesterol screening. Carnival coming to town The Lions Clubs of Franklin Lakes and Wyckoff will host a carnival at McBride Field (across from the Market Basket) in Franklin Lakes June 19 through 23. The event will feature 17 rides, 15 games, and food. The carnival will be open from 6 to 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, and from 6 to 11 p.m. on Friday. Hours will be 3 to 11 p.m. on Saturday and 3 to 8 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets for the carnival amusements may be purchased in advance at a discount at the following locations: Cartridge World, 830 Franklin Avenue, Franklin Lakes; Columbia Bank, 60 Godwin Avenue, Midland Park; and Tons of Toys, 315 Franklin Avenue, Wyckoff. Wristbands, which allow unlimited admission to the amusement rides, are $25 and are available on Wednesday and Sunday. Creative Writing Workshop set The Wyckoff Public Library will hold its Summer Creative Writing Workshop in July. This program for students in grades three through six will meet on Tuesdays beginning July 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. Participants will be chosen by lottery. Space is limited. Applications are available at the children’s desk in the Giants step forward Tom Coughlin, head coach of the NY Giants, along with players Mark Herzlich, Chris Snee, David Wilson, Corey Webster, and Hall of Famer Harry Carson helped “kickoff” a fundraiser for the Chamberlin family at the Wyckoff Family YMCA. A VIP reception featured a meet and greet and photo ops with the coach and players. Following was a speaking/Q&A panel session to a larger audience. Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Paul Dottino, announcer and reporter with the WFAN/Giants Radio Network. All proceeds of the event benefitted Frank Chamberlin and his family. Frank is a Mahwah High School graduate and a Wyckoff resident, who has been diagnosed with an anaplastic astrocytoma, a very serious form of brain cancer. Golf Outing announced The Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Wyckoff will host its 17th Annual Charity Golf Classic at Haworth Country Club in Haworth on June 24. Located at 5 Lake Shore Drive in Haworth, the Haworth Country Club was designed by legendary golf designer and architect Robert Trent Jones Jr. The club was selected to host the U.S. Open Qualifying Rounds for NJ in 2002, 2006, 2009, and 2013. The event includes golf, lunch, dinner, awards, and an auction. All are welcome to participate. Proceeds from this event benefit the church’s local and national charitable ministries and programs.
