The Midland Park Public Education Foundation is proud to announce that Kim Rabeiro is the recipient of its 2013 $1,000 scholarship. The award was announced at Midland Park High School’s Senior Awards Dinner held at The Tides in North Haledon. The MPPEF Scholarship, in its second year, is awarded to a deserving individual who has shown more than academic achievement. The candidate must also demonstrate strong character traits through volunteerism and is a student who illustrates leadership qualities and dedication to others through exceptional community service. Rabeiro is a strong student taking AP classes, participating in National Honor Society, and earning Scholar Athlete awards. In addition to her academic achievements, she has shown leadership in athletics, as class treasurer, and as a member of school senate. In her letter of recommendation, a teacher wrote that Rabeiro is “conscientious and strives to be the best she can both academically and personally.” The MPPEF was impressed with Rabeiro’s participation in the Habitat for Humanity Walk-a-Thon, her hours as a volunteer coach and her assistance tutoring others, and most of all her level of maturity, responsibility, and leadership qualities. “The MPPEF wishes Kim the best of luck as she begins her studies at the University of Tampa in the fall,” said Laurie Kamp, president of the MPPEF. “We are confident she will continue to value community service as she furthers her education and are certain she has a bright future ahead of her.”
