June 5, 2013 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • Page 23 Heirloom quilt graces Zabriskie House museum Jean Hildebrandt of Wyckoff and John Keene of Midland Park admire the circa 1860 quilt on display for the first time at the Zabriskie House in Wyckoff during Homespun History Day. The heirloom was assembled by Keene’s late mother between 1976 and 1984 from squares made by sisters Eliza Maria Zabriskie Banta, Rachel Ann Zabriskie Voorhis, and Margaret Jane Zabriskie who married Martin Hogencamp, who would fight in the Civil War. Mrs. Keene donated the quilt to the Wyckoff Historical Society. Eight museums were open for Homespun History Day. Each site featured a special exhibit of quilts, coverlets, samplers and other homemade items from their collections. Museums who participated in the day were The Schoolhouse Museum in Ridgewood, The Hermitage in Ho-HoKus, The John Fell House in Allendale, The HopperGoetschius House in Upper Saddle River, The Mahwah Museum, the Old Stone House in Ramsey and the Van Allen House in Oakland, in addition to the Zabriskie House.
