In her early career, she was a seamstress for the Juel Manufacturing Company in Manhattan, where she advanced to a sample maker. She was a parishioner of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Franklin Lakes. She is survived by her daughter Maritza M. and her son-in-law Joseph R. Bilodeau of Wyckoff, five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Esteban de la Torre. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. Dorothea M. DePuyt, nee Schweitzer, of Midland Park, formerly of Hawthorne, died June 25. She was 98. She was a fifth grade teacher at the Lincoln and Sicomac schools in Wyckoff from 1964 until her retirement in 1977. She was a member of the Midland Park United Methodist Church and Midland Park Seniors. She is survived by her children Nancy Fricke, Robert DePuyt, and Marilyn Casson, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Raymond C. DePuyt, her brother Theodore Schweitzer, and her sister Beatrice Smith Murray. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Marion Dessow, nee Garda, of Franklin Lakes, formerly of Maine, died July 4. She was 97. Before retiring in 1985, she was board secretary and business administrator for the Weehawkin School System. She attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help R.C. Church in Oakland. She is survived by her daughter Janet Capozzi and her son-in-law Raymond of Franklin Lakes, and two grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings Richard Garda and Enes Garda. Helen Devust, nee Vander Beck, of Midland Park, formerly of Wyckoff, died July 10. She was 86. She was a parishioner of the Church of the Nativity in Midland Park. She is survived by her children Clifford Devust of Lincoln Park and Crystal Devust of North Carolina, and two grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Jean Worrall of North Haledon, Doris Passione of Florida, and Susan Vander Beck and Charlene Bino, both of Fair Lawn. He was 60. A graduate of Pope Paul VI High School in Clifton, he attended Rutgers University before starting his career as a painting contractor. He was a member of The Rooms. He is survived by his wife Gaile Stuart, his stepsons Jason Stuart and Jared Stuart, and his siblings Lorraine Bigos and Robert Dunn. He was predeceased by his parents Richard and Anita Dunn. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of Newark College of Engineering. Before retiring, he was an engineer for Picatinny Arsenal for 50 years. He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Glen Rock, VFW Post 850 in Glen Rock, the Belles & Beaux Square Dancing Club, and Glen Rock Activities Unlimited. He is survived by his niece Barbara Dreyer and her husband Jim of Wyckoff, and his nephew Lawrence Carino of Florida. He was predeceased by his wife Marjorie (nee Estler) and his sister Dorothy Carino. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He worked for Tetor and Schmultz Insurance in Ridgewood before taking over the company. He had been the owner of Charles F. Heidt Insurance Agency of Ridgewood and then in Wyckoff. He was a member of the Lions Club of Wyckoff for over 40 years and served as a past president. He is survived by his children Charles F. Heidt Jr. of Lake Pleasant, New York, Robin L. Heidt of Vernon, and John Lind of Cliffside Park. He is also survived by four grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and his brother William R. He was a former member of Temple Beth Sholom in Fair Lawn. He is survived by his wife Diane Meyer, his children Bruce L. Meyer and Kenneth J. Meyer, and six grandchildren. She is survived by her sons Randy Schmitz, Craig Schmitz, Scott Schmitz, all of California, and Brett Schmitz of Hawthorne. She is also survived by six grandchildren, her brother Emil Holvoet of Glen Rock, and her companion Anthony Herse of Wyckoff. She was predeceased by her husband Donald. Church in Hawthorne, Saint Elizabeth’s R.C. Church in Wyckoff, and the Church of the Nativity in Midland Park. Before retiring, she was employed by The Valley Hospital in food services. She is survived by her children William Wassel, Stephen Wassel, and Lynn Brooks, and eight grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband William and her son John Wassel. She is survived by her husband Robert W. Zuidema, and her children Lynette Leegwater, Paul, and Steven. She is also survived by five grandchildren and her brother Harry Hommes.
