Van Dyk Health Care recently named Jacqueline “Jackie” Cousins as administrator of the Van Dyk Montclair facility. Cousins has 15 years of experience in administration in regional long-term care facilities. She holds an MA in public health care administration from New Jersey State University and a BA in psychology from William Patterson College. She is licensed by the New Jersey Department of Health as an LNHA and is a state-certified social worker. “Under Jackie’s leadership, facilities have experienced growth and stability without losing site of the primary goal of quality care,” said Robert Van Dyk, president and CEO of Van Dyk Health Care and nationally recognized advocate for health care providers. “We welcome her expertise to our organization and our ‘We Care’ mission.” Cousins joins Van Dyk Health Care as the staff, patients, and residents graciously bid farewell to long-term administrator Andrea Solazzo upon her retirement after 15 years of service with the Van Dyk Health Care family. Solazzo spent her career demonstrating her dedication to the wellbeing of the patients and residents of Van Dyk Montclair and the needs of staff and the entire Van Dyk family. “During her tenure with Van Dyk Health Care, Andi has

brought much value to our health care mission in her role of administrator at Montclair. She is highly regarded by me, my family, (and) her coworkers, not to mention the patients and residents of Van Dyk Montclair,” President Van Dyk added. “We thank her for being a valued member of our team and the Van Dyk family for many years and we wish her the very best in retirement. She will be missed.” Van Dyk Health Care, Inc. is a family of three facilities located in northern New Jersey: Van Dyk Ridgewood, Van Dyk Montclair, and Van Dyk Park Place. Extracurricular regulation case
(continued from page 4) Fogarty also pointed out that this case presents an issue of great public importance because the issues in the case have a ripple effect in the state where 109 school districts have policies similar to the one proposed by RIH, and many of those policies have been put on hold pending the outcome of this case. By denying the district’s petition, the court essentially confirmed the Appellate Division ruling that the school board’s original regulation exceeded the school district’s authority. The Supreme Court awarded legal costs to the Meeses, but Gregroy Meese advised that he and his wife do not intend to seek costs against the board. “Our challenge to the policy was always based on our firm belief that the policy was both ill-advised and illegal and we’re pleased that all of the courts have agreed with us,” he stated.
